The 2009 Salzgitter AMG Mercedes C-Class driver has 14 points to make up in the drivers’ championship on the leader with just two races remaining.
Dijon in France is the host for the first of these this weekend, with the potential title-decider being at Hockenheim on October 25th.
And although Paffett admits that the challenge he faces is a tough ask, he remains hopeful that the gap can still be bridged.
He said: "Although it’s hardly realistic to think that the 14 points separating me from the current leader in the drivers’ championship can be made up in the two remaining races, my motto is the same as it was when I drove my very first lap: the championship is never over until the chequered flag has been reached."
Paffett needs to win both of the remaining races if he has any rational aspirations of becoming champion, which would double his number of successes over the ten-race season.
He has previously won EuroSpeedway and Zandvoort in 2009.
